Any person can take place in off road racing. The sport has a long history. There are various forms of off road racing. This race involves different vehicles, ranging from motorcycles, cars to trucks. It is such a fun activity that brings people from different walks of life together regardless of age, status, or race. Each race has its particular rules and terms.
One ha to choose the category you wish to participate in before racing. These competitions have a different set of rules that should be adhered to. Breaking the rules for these off road races may carry severe consequences. Worst case scenario, one may get disqualified from the race. Every participant of the event follows the same route, and the prize is won by the winner. Off road racing comprises mainly of desert and short course racing.
Desert racing competitions are held in the desert. The first race ever was held in the Mexican desert, and this was in 1967 after the national off road racing Association was formed. Although this race was initially called the Mexican 1000, the name was later changed to the Baja 1000. Most of the desert races are set in miles and take place on government land. Depending on the vehicle, the suspension system set up together with the size of the engine are the ones that determines the distance that will be covered. This owes to the fact that different vehicles have different engine sizes as well as suspension systems that handle stress and strain differently. Other factors also influence the number of miles to be covered apart from the ones I have mentioned above.
Compared to desert racing, short course races are shorter. The miles covered are short, typically less than five. The paths used have several rights and left turns, gravel tips, jumps, and washboards. Other short course races take place in stadiums hence the name Stadium racing. The government previously supported these races. This has since stopped, and these races are currently supported and promoted by private entities.
Other forms of racing are hill climb racing that only takes place on hills. Any other form of racing, as long as it takes place in unpaved and unspecified tracks, will be regarded as off road racing. Short course racing and desert racing are regarded as the main forms of off road racing and all of them are covered here. Participation in these races can either be as a competition or only fun and adventure. For those who have never tried this race before, then this would be the best time. It will be fun, as long as you have the right equipment and attire.
